A lovely man. I worked for Yorkshire Television in Leeds in the Sound Department until my retirement. I remember Roger coming in to do a recording in Studio Two. What a lovely lovely man! He made a lasting impression on me of musicality and gentle kindness RIP Roger
Roger, Your version of Ding Dong Merrily on High is the first Christmas carol; I que up each year. Your rendition of I'll be home for Christmas brings tears to my eyes. Then I listen to the whole album. Your voice is so smooth and articulate. It takes me back to my childhood and fills my heart with both joy and meloncholy, Thank you for all your songs but mostly for making my Christmas so special and wonderful. I am 68 now and have no idea how many Christmas holidays I have left. But you will always be a huge part of it. God bless you sir! To a life well lived
Your music continues to be a blessing to me and my family. May you forever rest in the arms of our Father. Your legacy continues to live on in your family, who you love, and in the gift of your music.

I remember my father telling me how when I was just a newborn in 1975, I'd be in my bouncer chair and when a commercial advertising Mr. Whittaker's album that year, I'd shut my eyes really tight and open them slowly until the song was over. Dad told me it was to the song was The Unicorn from The Magical World of Roger Whittaker album. I have loved listening to Mr. Whittaker's music my whole life. I sing right along and now that my father has passed, the music makes him still feel here. Ten days after Mr. Whittaker passed, I lost my mom as well. My heart hugs yours as you go through this grief of losing your beloved. I wish I could say it gets better, it gets easier to an extent but the grief of someone well loved never goes away. Blessings and peace to you.
We first became acquainted with Roger's works while doing mission work in Africa. Some fellow missionaries loaned one or two of his CD's and we enjoyed them greatly. This afternoon taking care of correspondence with my BOZE head set on and a eclectic assortment of CD's in my 6 CD player. When Roger's came on, the thought occurred to me to see if he is still alive but that was not to be.
Roger was a rare master in his field of the musical world. He had a mix of old and new songs. But he kept the acapella component dominate over the instrumental accompaniment. Most performers do the opposite much to my dismay. Rarely can I understand the words of many popular songs but rarely do I not understand Roger's words -- such a gift! And the human voice is the master of all instruments and God the Father gave Roger an incredible talent in using his marvelous voice to uplift us all. His fantastic songs may well be a peek into the singing of the angels in the world to come!!
After evicting a huge spider from my bathroom into the garden last night, I went to sleep and woke up with 'Nasty Spider' playing in my mind.
So I looked up you up. At 5 years old, The Magical World of Roger Whitaker was my first ever album and brought me a lot of joy.
So sad to see you have left this Earth and to learn about the trauma you experienced relating to your parents, but it sounds like you had some amazing times and lived and loved a full,
happy life, touching the hearts of many.
My heart felt wishes go to your family and friends.
RIP Roger Whitaker, thank you for the many light moments you brought to my childhood. I'm going to revisit and enjoy your music again.

Just recently discovered his music & created an amazing playlist. His expression through music creates an ambiance that's incredibly clearing, healing & rejuvenating. "Someone lost the plan, for the brotherhood of man, and no one's trying to find it anymore." I found myself a remarkable reminder of the brotherhood of man through Roger's music. Peace be with Roger, family & friends, with Timeless Thanks & Deepest Appreciation for Sharing with All of Us
A gifted singer/crooner, and seemingly as kind and gentle as his mellifluous
dulcetones. He will be sorely missed. His on stage congeniality leads me to believe he was a wonderful family man. May he rest in peace as the world continues to experience and enjoy his wonderful music!
I have just listened to a few songs sang by Roger. It made me realize how fine a singer he was. I only just discovered he died here in France only about a year ago. He has left a tremendous work of art behind and I still think it will remain a marking point in modern music. He really was gifted. Bless him for his kindness and sympathie, he is already missed. May he whistle among the clouds for ever.
