Does anyone know the French song in which the chorus begins with Bon by Mr Whittaker perhaps in the 1970s?
This was a family favorite and we cannot locate it.

We used to listen to Rogers Christmas music while growing up. I started listening again this year and it is bringing back such great memories

Desde agosto no volvía al sitio web y me encuentro con esto. Tenía 13 años cuando lo escuché por primera vez en 1978 gracias a música que había traído de Alemania a Punta Arenas el padre de un amigo. Apenas lo escuché pasé un casette y fue de los 3 primeros que tuve. Me encantaba escuchar su recital en vivo y que hoy en you tube es un regalo verlo con su vestón café y de esos años 70. Hoy con 58 años sigo escuchándolo y me emocioné al verlo en sus últimas presentaciones. Seguiremos disfrutándolo escuchándolo. Mis condolencias a su familia. Rolo desde Punta Arenas, región de Magallanes y Antártica de Chile.

I have loved Roger Whittaker since listening to him on my Dad’s record player as a child.
So much so my daughter picked “A Perfect Day” for her and her Dad to dance to at her wedding.
I lost my husband two years ago so have a little understand what you are feeling right now.
Love and thanks.
His voice will carry us on.

My husband and I met Mr. Whittaker when we lived in Baltimore, Maryland, USA
We were thrilled every time. We saw his Kenya program and loved it. I am so sorry that the world has lost his voice and personality

I have been a fan of RW’s music for as long as I can remember.
It was on BBC radio I first became aware of him, and his music really caught my attention.
I only ever bought 2 x LPs, ‘New World in the Morning’ & ‘The very best of Roger Whittaker.’
I caught up with many of his music on the radio.
With great sadness I read of his death.
Even so, his music will stay with me.

My thoughts and condolences go out to the members of the Whittaker family. Roger was a very talented artist and beautiful singer. His memory will live on in his music and the hearts and minds of those he left behind. I became a Roger Whittaker fan in the early 1990s after purchasing a cassette copy of his Tidings of Comfort and Joy Christmas album. I would play it over and over again and was always amazed of how rich and beautiful his voice was. I am listening to it as I type this entry. The Last Farewell only seems appropriate to mention at this time. Roger, watch over us in Heaven and please know that you will always be remembered.

Strange story! When I was young I spent summers with my grandparents in Philadelphia. They were wonderful summers, and the radio was always on at a perfect volume in the kitchen at lunch. I remember hearing this man sing and his voice was wonderful. Each time I heard the song I tried to memorize a line or two - then repeat them. Unfortunately, I never asked my grandmother if she knew the song title or artist.
This song has been on my mind ever since those young days of my teens. Tonight I finally was successful in finding it was Durham Town. It was so hard for me to locate and I am thrilled to say thank you to Roger for a song that has stayed with me for decades, yet was a mystery.
I have enjoyed other songs he wrote/recorded but had never heard my father play this one. My father was an excellent whistler as well.
I and sorry for Roger’s passing, but I think he enjoyed his time with his family and work.
Again - many thanks to Roger and his family.

Roger Whittaker was the background music of my teenage years and in particular I remember watching him on many occasions on The late late Show with Gay Byrne on Irish Tv in the late 70s with my now-deceased parents. Seeing him perform in Waterford many years later brought me back to that farmhouse in Wexford and brought tears to my eyes. Rest well Roger. Your fantastic voice lives on.

I'm 35 and don't remember a Christmas without Roger's music. Every past Christmas is marked with his music, and future Christmas will be as well. Thanks for the lovely memories, Roger.

Dear Natalie
Roger was introduced to me by my father in 1984. My dad and I used to listen to his rich and pleasant voice through my childhood years in India. My dad died in 1998. We remember my dad as a huge fan of Roger. Whenever I think of my dad I play the “Magical world” and it takes me back to a better world of music which Roger had gifted us. Words are poor comforters but Roger was one in a billion. He made us feel happy and safe. Thank you and Roger. I believe in heaven and I am sure The Lord is listening to Roger and thanking him as are we all. Best wishes from Sudipta

To me, Christmas just wouldn't be the same without the wonderful seasonal music of Roger Whitaker. I grew up listening to his songs on 8-Track cassettes my mother bought. I know every Christmas song by heart now and sing along at this time of year while doing mundane chores. I'm in my 50s now and yet Darcy the Dragon is still my favorite.
Thank you for all of the ways you made the world a better place.

While listening to music this afternoon “The Last Farewell” came on I was compelled to google Roger. I was saddened to hear he passed.
I was introduced to his music through my father and I’ve continued to listen throughout my life. My father recently brought me some of his albums and there were a couple Roger Whitaker in there, thankfully. I’ve always loved his voice and storytelling.

Bless u Roger RIP. I went to Worcester cricket ground one year, took one of my customers and we went up in the posh box. I saw Roger sitting a few seats across from us. I didn’t pluck up the courage to go and say hello I wish I would have, but he looked so settled and enjoying himself I didn’t want to disturb him. But I remember my Father loved his music and some of it rubbed off on me. If I see you next time Roger I will come and say hello. Xxxx
