What a sadness to learn of Roger's passing. My partner, Mike, passed away at end of July and among the music played at his funeral just a few days before Roger's death, as we walked into church, was "The first Hello, The last Goodbye", which I play endlessly in Mike's memory. We spent many an hour since Mike's retirememnt listening to Roger's beautiful songs, something for every emotion known to man (or woman!), and sung with such warmth, feeling and clarity. The songs he wrote himself were particularly poignant and full of meaning, but, equally, those he chose to sing written by others were very carefully selected to match his own style. To be able to leave such a legacy of wonderful music means he will be forever in our hearts. God bless his wife and family who must be distraught at the loss of such a lovely man. Wishing both men peace in the life beyond. Elizabeth

I have loved Roger's music for as long as I can remember. His gentle voice has filled my heart with joy and sustained me during the trials of my life. May his music live on forever. RIP

If Roger was standing in front of me, I'd say thank you for all the happiness you brought to me through the years. He sang beautifully and with such feeling. RIP.

I was so dismayed at hearing of Roger's passing. I have been listening to his music for over 40 years and went to his concert in Okla. City years ago. I have many of his albums and have nearly worn them out over the years. IF, BRAHAMS LULLABYE, CHINJULIP Are just a few of my favorites but I really enjoyed his All My Best album. I have been thinking about getting many on CD since my LP's and tapes are getting old and well used. Roger has been such a blessing in my life in good times and bad. His music fit in beautifully. May God bless those of you he has left behind. You were loved by a wonderful man.

Thank you for your amazing voice and wonderful music you brought to us all. I have so many favorites. But my favorite of all was you whistling Brahms Lullaby. To the family, I am so sorry for your loss.💔

Dear Natalie & Family, I was saddened to hear about Roger's death. My husband, Lee, did his ground and flight training on the Commander airplane in Oklahoma City. They bonded over their love of airplanes and their families. In 1994, my husband died of ALS and Roger sent me a beautiful handwritten condolence letter. I still have it. I'm glad you will always be able to listen to his beautiful voice. I'm sure my husband, Lee, welcomed him to his heavenly home. You are all in my prayers.

His songs lead me through the journey of life. His kind voice. His tone so rich and round. He was loved by many. He was a place to rest my embattled mind. I needed him and I still do. Rest In Peace sweet music man. There will never be another like you. Your physical curtain may have closed but sing on you will; sing on you must. Thank God for you and your legacy. Cheers and love form your broken-hearted legions of followers. Sleep well. You’ve earned it. Hugs.

Merci M. Whittaker, vous avez chanté "une rose pour Isabelle" à notre mariage le 5 août 2023. Je me souviendrai à jamais de votre immense talent, en particulier celui de siffler comme personne... Bon voyage

One of my favorite artists since my youth. His songs 'New World in the Morning' and his version of 'Morning Has Broken' were just right to start the day with. But 'The Last Farewell' for me was his best. I treasure the CDs I have of his songs, and will continue to listen to them. He sang with emotion and feeling.

My sympathies go out to the families of Roger. I’m heart is broken over the loss of a wonderful man and singer! I got to know his music when i read the words to the “sky boat song” in a library book in school. My dad found out that was a song Roger sang and took me to see him here in the USA. I was fortunate enough to see him three different places. I actually got to meet him and got a pic taken with him. Loved to hear him talk (with his accent). Such a sweet gentleman, and seemed like he didn't know a stranger! He will be truly missed! Thank you Roger for the gift you gave the world! Sincerely, Gini

I Washington introduced to his music at 6 yo by my parent's best friend's neighbor. They gave me "mon pays bleu" album. Since then, I bought every one I could find. He is my favorite singer of all time. A BIG STAR have disappeared. My husband tries, a few years ago, to got an autograph for my B-day because it would have mean so much to me. It's with sadness in my heart that I wish you the best in the other side ❤️ With love ❤️

Dear Natalie, I was listening to the Sweet Dreams album when I saw the news of Roger's death today. My heart breaks for you and your family. I used to write to you occasionally but have not got a current address. (You might remember a pillow I sent that I embroidered with the names of many of Roger's songs and a book of Katharine Hepburn's that I had her autograph for you.) Roger's music has brought a great deal of joy to my husband and me for many years. We still listen to it several times a week. He'll always be my favorite. He was such a gentleman, greeting his fans after a concert (and you, too, when you were there). He will be missed by millions of people, but we are blessed to have his music remain. He is in God's hands now and I hope you will find comfort in that. My faith is that there will be a resurrection and I look forward to hearing that beautiful voice again.

My French teacher introduced me to Roger's music when I was 17. He played "Pour Mes Amis Québecois" for us for about 2 months, and we had the privilege of learning his songs and singing along with him in "labo" (where we listened to his voice in earphones and sang with him). My favourite was and still is Le Dernier Adieu (the Last Farewell) in French; the lyrics are more universally a love song for me. So sad to hear of his death. His legacy lives on in his music, echoes of his beautiful, gentle baritone voice and his haunting whistle are in my mind. Rest well, Roger. You are one of the good ones!

I was introduced to Roger's music through my mom and her love for all contemporary music, along with ABBA and Don McLean; we would listen to his album countless times over. He had the most soothing voice and will not be forgotten. Rest in peace Mr. Whitaker.
