In the 1970’s as a junior high student I heard Roger Whitaker for the first time, in a television advertisement for his album. I talked my mother into ordering an 8 Track for me. I’ve been a fan ever since. What a wonderful voice and wonderful storyteller. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I’m sorry I never saw him in person, but am grateful that his songbook, like his memory, will live on for the many people, like myself, who cherished his gift. I offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Such sad news. I first heard Roger through my father in the late 60s and early 70s. My dad was a huge fan and Roger was a real regular on the TV in Britain during that period. Even at that young age I soon realised that this lovely man had endless talent and although I grew up in the glam rock and punk era I still thoroughly enjoyed his music. I continued to listen to him through the decades and never tired of him, he produced a wonderful canon of recordings that still sound fresh today. God bless you Roger and thank you for the wonderful gift you gave to music lovers down the years. R.I.P.

Very sad to hear that Roger Whittaker has passed away. Earliest recollection at 6 or 7 was him singing on the radio "Durham Town". Many years after that, bought a good number of his long-players. A great song writer and singer and whistler, whose like I don't think we shall see again. He was one of a kind.

As the sole surviving member of the group The Fantastics, I would like to pay tribute to Roger, a really great person and performer. We appeared on his TV show back in the 70s in England. May I extend heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and associates on his passing. Kind regards John T Cheatdom

I was a fan of Roger Whittaker for many years and I still love his music today. I saw him perform several times in Halifax, NS. Canada as well as listening to his music on the radio and on CD. I only just found out he passed away yesterday and am sorry to see him go. He was an expert whistler and I always loved to hear him whistle or yodel which he was excellent at too. Many condolences to his family and friends and especially from myself and Nova Scotia. Rest in peace, Roger.

So sorry to hear of Rogers passing, he provided so much joy to the World with his great voice and songs. I am former Program Director for WKTZ fm in Jacksonville Fl ,an easy listening station, and we played Rogers music, he was so popular. I met him briefly after a concert in Orlando ..he always came out to greet his fans! I have just been listening to some of his songs tonight and shared them with both my daughters. RIP Roger, "The good old E and R and H will get you there on time!" Alan.

Roger was and still is my favourite male vocalist. His amazing talents included singing in many languages, at least two whistling styles, and a consistently genuine "presence" while performing. I have enjoyed 3 of his live performances in Regina Saskatchewan and always came away with a song in my heart. Also, as VFR pilot with only a night rating, I was impressed by his beautiful GulfStream aircraft and endorsement on twin engine and full instrument rating, which is no easy achievement. Just heard today of his passing, and share a little of the sadness with his devoted family. God Bless and Keep You!

So sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. We were privileged to produce apart of hi last tour of North America and spent a lovely dinner engagement after the concert in Abbotsford BC. Listening to his stories and sharing many jokes We didn’t get out of there until the wee hours of the morning. He was such a gentleman and a wonderful entertainer. He will be much missed

What a sadness to learn of Roger's passing. My partner, Mike, passed away at end of July and among the music played at his funeral just a few days before Roger's death, as we walked into church, was "The first Hello, The last Goodbye", which I play endlessly in Mike's memory. We spent many an hour since Mike's retirememnt listening to Roger's beautiful songs, something for every emotion known to man (or woman!), and sung with such warmth, feeling and clarity. The songs he wrote himself were particularly poignant and full of meaning, but, equally, those he chose to sing written by others were very carefully selected to match his own style. To be able to leave such a legacy of wonderful music means he will be forever in our hearts. God bless his wife and family who must be distraught at the loss of such a lovely man. Wishing both men peace in the life beyond. Elizabeth
