River. The Last Farewell with Chet Atkins will , like your other music ,live forever in my memory and I performed same in a show last evening.
Thank you for all the great memories.
Rest in peace, dear Roger. Thank you for the joy you have brought to millions over the many years!
To the Whittaker Family- May your grief be short, but your memories long....Two weeks ago, I woke out of a sound sleep with The Last Farewell in my head, a song I remember from my childhood, and one of my Grandma's favorite songs (and artists). I pulled it up on my phone and listened to it for the first time in many years, over and over. Roger touched my soul, he made an impact on me. I was filled with thoughts of my Grandma, and my wonderful music-filed childhood. She bought me one of his LP's which I wore out. The imagery of that song was burnt into my memory like a laser. Upon hearing it again, I looked him up, news of his passing had not yet reached our shores. It was as if he had sung it to me personally, a last farewell, in my dreams, as I found that he had passed a little later that day. I know I will never forget Roger's gentle, soothing voice and music. Thank you, Roger, for your gift of music that you shared with us all. Rest in peace, kind sir.
My father, Kevin, introduced us to the Roger’s music as a children. I always loved his rich voice, his beautiful melodies & lyrics & his warm & deep humanity . Thank you for the music, Roger. Rest in peace.🙏🏻
Thank you for your comforting music for all these many years and such enjoyable concert tours. My sympathies to Roger's family, may you be comforted by your happy memories.
Truly one of my favourites. Fond memories of his music during my childhood. I am happy I got to see him in concert over 25 years ago. My condolences to his family and loved ones.

My prayers are with you all in your time of grief. Mr. Whittaker's music reached and still reaches the soul. I am ever so grateful that medicine's loss was music's and the world's gain. Rest in peace sir. Rest in peace.
I only have good memories of Roger's songs from my childhood and they will always come back to my mind. It's a shame he's gone and he was a great whistler, I loved hearing him whistle. Now he whistles for the angels in heaven. Rest in peace now, you deserve it. All my condolences to the family, my thoughts are with them
Ever since I can remember, Rogers music was always on my parents turntable and later in their CD player. Two years ago my Dad passed away and I played a number of Rogers songs to help Dad pass to the spirit world. Thank you Roger for sharing your gift with the world ❤️
My first memory of Roger's music was in 1986, my dad had left the family home but left behibg a collection of cassettes, one of these was a Reader's Digest collection of Roger's songs.
I lapped it up and played it over and again. Lots of the songs have very special places in my heart - particularly after tge early and sudden death of my own wife.
My thoughts go out to the whole family and those who knew him well.
Much love.
So sorry to read the news. My aunty Pam and uncle Michael used to have the Red Cow pub in Chrishall and I was fortunate to have met both Roger and Natalie ( along with the gorgeous Bunty and Jango ). Always stayed in my memory. RIP
What a great man. Music has got me through my sometimes troubled life. The first two singles I bought was Durham town and two little boys.
This is the sad part of life that I will never understand but thanks to you tube we can access this great mans music at anytime.
A special place in my life.
You will never be forgotten. Your music en who you are keeps you alive.
My condoleances for your family.
I was so sorry to hear of his passing. My childhood is filled with memories of listening and dancing to his music. God bless.
Rest in Peace Roger. You're a legend with such a rich story. It is time now to go and entertain the angels above. You will be missed. Our heartfelt condolences to your family. You will always live on in your music
My sincere condolences to Natalie and Family. As many others. I feel blessed to have met Roger several times after his concerts in Denmark and the US. To me, Roger will be remembered as a majestic, kind and gentle soul. I was 11 or 12 the first time we met and the last one in line for his autograph, spoke very little English, but Roger still made me feel as if He had all night to chat with me. His beautiful voice, lyrics and music influenced my life in many ways.. A headline in a Danish paper I just read stated about Roger ' THE MOST PLEASANT MAN IN THE WORLD HAS PASSED'. I will always cherish his music. Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to Natalie and all the children for sharing Roger with the rest of the world. You must have had a lot of lonely days and nights. God Bless.
I have been listening to Rogers singing and especially his whistling since I was a small child and I'm in my 60s now. My first favourite song was 'Emily' off an album my aunty had and I still love whistling along with him on the Mexican Whistler today. My sincere condolences go to his family and thankyou for sharing him with us xxxxxxxxxx
Loved his unique voice even when l liked rock groups in early seventies. God speed Rodger we will miss you .
RE: our recent post. Couple of corrections in text are:
1) Please ignore the first "but above all" as it is redundant 2) should read: (+ still have "The Christmas Album" in vinyl)
I had missed this news from about a week ago ...such a class act ...Barbie and I attended his first Metro Centre Concert with a number of friend in the late 70's (at height of his later North American success), though we were taking a break from steady dating at that time.
This news brings back some nostalgic memories, as does his first Christmas album which we still own in vinyl!
I also remember "The Last Farewell" playing repeatedly on Dal(housie) University Radio in early 70's when it became a worldwide hit, that brought him to North American attention and prominence. This station usually played a lot of hard rock and alternative music, but made an exception for top folk/pop hits which this was.
Sincere sympathy to Rogers wife and family. The world was a better (new world in the morning) with Roger and his artistry in it, His songs and many hits (+ still gave "The Christmas Album" on vinyl) will live on forever, as will his performances, but above all his personality and influence as a entertainer/performer, but above all family man and human being who left an indelible mark on so many. RIP Roger ...Not farewell, but as a Nova Scotia (Cape Breton) The Rankin Family song says "Fare Thee Well, Love"
