I AM SO VERY SORRY TO HEAR THAT ROGER WHITTAKER HAS PASSED AWAY. HE WAS MY FAVOURITE SINGER AND MY FAVOURITE SONG OF HIS WAS THE LAST FAREWELL. I HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING HIM BACK IN SEPTEMBER 1992 AT BBC RADIO MERSEYSIDE. HE WILL BE SADLY AND DEARLY MISSED. MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO ALL HIS FAMILY AND HIS WIFE NATALIE.
My prayers for Rogers family. My thanks to the Good Lord for all the joy Roger brought to the world. God bless
Followed Roger's career since his first hit and was fortunate to see him in person three times during his visits to the USA. He was so talented in so many ways including being a great family man. His legacy will live on in the beautiful music he wrote and sang. Will miss you Roger.
A piece of my heart died with Roger. Words can not describe the comfort and joy his music meant to me over the years, specially in times when I was at an emotional low. I count it as a blessing I had the good fortune of seeing him in concert. A memory forever cherished.
The Last Farewell - one of my most favourite songs. Have been playing it today in memory of Roger. RIP - Thank you, I will continue to play it regularly.
Tony, from Deal in Kent, UK
Thank you for Roger being the musical connection between my father and me. It’s my youth memory. We played his music on my father’s funeral. Wish you strength to carry the loss at this respectable age.
Roger Whitaker is legendary and his music and art gifted to us from an extraordinary voice and personality. May his memory live on in his music and his time with us be counted as a blessing.
I first heard that rich, golden voice back in 1972, when I lived in Bulawayo, Rhodesia. But try as I could, I could not find any LP record to add to my collection. I eventually found one in the village of Marandellas and snapped it up. Several people offered me more than I paid but it was not for sale, ever. With the advent of CD, I now have that golden voice in crystal clear format.
Roger's hit "The Last Farewell" was very popular in Rhodesia in the 1970's among the wives and girlfriends of their menfolk who were being called up for their 2-year military National Service. And now with his passing, the title is even more piognant for me.
Farewell Roger, you may have left the studio but your music will live on for many years. Thank you for enriching my life. Time now for a well-deserved rest. Rest In Peace.
I love his music and still play it from my turntable while singing along.
Rest in peace Roger.

You were the wind beneath my daughter's wings. God Bless you sir. We will miss you sadly. Best of wished to your family.
We saw Mr. Whittaker in California many years ago. We enjoyed his music, humor, and just him so very much. We still turn up the volume when we hear his music. We wanted to see him again and never made it across the pond. May God bless his family.
*My Roger Whittaker story*
I first heard about Roger Whittaker through Haz's folks, dashing haze and big Nev, in the late 80's/early 90's. But my journey with Roger didn't really start until I discovered an old 8-track, my folks had, in our extension, a couple of years later. Me and Haz used to listen to it whilst playing "Gary linekers hotshots" on the spectrum 128k. Over several years we played and memorised the track order and the lyrics to the songs. We then moved onto a live version CD, which was purchased at a local newsagents store and continued to enjoy this musical marvel.
If I recall correctly, whilst my folks were away for a couple of weeks in 95, we had "an evening with George Formby and Roger Whittaker" night round my house where we played his music, laughed, ate, and drank beer, good times!
My music taste changed and I stopped listening to Roger for a few years, but then in 2001 I met Harran and one day, whilst setting up a conference room, at work we started talking about Roger Whittaker, we both liked his music and told tales to eachother of how we found him.
Fast forward too 2005, after a decade of listening to his music Darren informed me and Haz "Roger was touring!!" Thanks to warran, and modern technology we were able to, not only enjoy the concert, but record it and meet and greet the folk legend!!
I don't mourn his loss today, I celebrate all the joy and pleasure he and his music bought, not just to me, but to everyone (worldwide album sales of 50 million!)
Rest easy big Roge, one we'll meet again.
There's a ship lies rigged and ready in the harbour...............................
Sincerest condolences to the family and friends on the passing of Roger. My Mum always played his music on a four track player as we drove about with her work. I was very young at the time but because of this I always have had a soft spot for him and his music.
We have lost a talented gentleman.
RIP Roger, gone but not forgotten.

I remember when my mama, husband and I go to meet Roger in Oxford after his concert in 1981. He was so sweet. I loved his music and had all his albums which were later stolen. This makes me sad.
Deepest condolences to Natalie and the family. What a legacy Roger has left us, I have enjoyed Roger's music for over 50 years. and have numerous vinyl records and CD's as he was my favourite singer of all time. I even was a member of his fan club. The Christmas CD's are on every year. I did enjoy Roger;'s TV series and the musical Safari in Kenya. Roger had such a golden voice which was sounded in all his musical talents. One of my favourites I have always liked is 'My Silver Eagle'. My house has always been full of your music and comforted me whenever I have been at a low ebb. Rest in peace and sing in heaven.

My land is kenya, is what I knew you for and man it always hit differently whenever I listen. Rest in Peace Champ. God's comfort and peace to the family during this time
I've loved Roger's music since the 1970s, and my favourite of his songs is I Don't Believe In If Anymore, which has a wonderful bass sound as well. I saw Roger in concert in Montreal about 40 years ago and was amazed not only by his singing, but his live whistling. My sincere condolences to his family and friends on the loss of perhaps the warmest male voice in music (for me the warmest female voice belonged to Karen Carpenter).
Roger, I was introduced to your music in 1980, and instantly I felt in love with your songs and voice. It was your singing that carried me through so many difficult time during my youth and college. Very few singers have impacted me the way you have and I forever grateful for your music. I saw you in Phoenix and Tucson back in late 1980's and to this I clearly remember those concerts. With utmost gratitude and affection from your admirer. Ghaffar A Namjou
His music touched so many people all over the world. His song " You are my miracle" was a source of great comfort to me when my husband died and continues to bless me when ever I hear it. I hope it will be of comfort to you in your loss. Sincerely, Colleen Hesson
