So very sad to read this news. Roger was a wonderful singer and entertainer who made a wealth of lovely recordings. His music will live on always. Our thoughts are with Rogers family. R.I.P. Roger and thank you.
I am profoundly sad at this news, roger was a wonderfully talented artist, many fine songs and also the ability to put his unique stamp on other artists songs! A long life well lived i guess! We will not see his like or talent again. Rip roger thank you for the music. God speed. ❤️🌹😢
I will always remember the kindness of Roger Whittaker when I was 10 years old and a budding reporter on the Saturday morning show for children on my local BBC radio station in the 1970s.
I was given the chance to interview him and the experience confirmed my desire to be a journalist when I left school.
I went on to interview hundreds of celebrities and politicians before I retired two years ago. But I’ve always fondly remembered my first-ever interview, especially when I heard one of his songs on the radio down the years.
A true gentleman and a real artist. RIP.
Roger's music has always been beautiful, hopeful and educational for me and it will remain so forever. An extraordinary man of many talents. Thank you, Roger. Love and Light.
I first heard "New World in the morning" growing up in Barbados on the local radio station at 6am as sunrise.IHe has been one of my favourite singers all my life.I turn 60 this year and reminiscing on it has left my grateful for the part his music has play in it.To his wife and children, thank you for sharing him with the world.

R I P ROGER
From 'Morning has broken' to 'The Last Farewell', every song he ever sang, was a favourite of mine. It always felt like having an old friend in my house when I listened to him singing - his voice had such a calming effect. I have a large collection of his songs, the German ones included and they will always be my 'go to' when I need peace.
Dear Family of Roger, may God grant you the peace that you need. Thank you for sharing this talented man with us for so many years.
This is a very sad loss in the music world. I have admired Roger Whittaker for many years and extend my sincere condolences to his family and fans. Rest in peace Mr. Whittaker.
A wonderful singer and songwriter. My first ever record that I bought was Durham Town
(it cost me 6 and 8 old pence !) and I followed his music throughout my teens, seeing him live in concert at the Central Hall, Chatham.
He was in the UK charts for a number of years and had his own TV show "Whistle Stop"
Wouldn't it be lovely if they showed those again. Thank you Roger, keep singing to the Angels.
Roger was always one of my favorite singers. I regret that I never saw him live in concert. I send my sincerest condolences to you from the land of the Maple Leaf. Please know that he was loved and admired by his fans. Never forgotten.
Simple THANK YOU for shareing your husband, dad, Grandad with us all, god bless
My prayers and sympathy to Roger’s family, friends, and fans the world over …a special talent, yes, but more so, a fine family man and great human being who led an adventurous life! Listening tonight to some of his songs I wasn’t familiar with …what a talent, indeed!
Thank you for all the beautiful music. Prayers for you and condolences to your family.
My condolences to the family.
In my earlier years Roger gave me a view to the world through his music and I am forever grateful for that gift.
He will be missed.
Very sad to hear of Roger's passing. I was a small child when I met him at a recording of a TV show in the early 70s. Even at that young age, it was obvious that he was a genuinely nice person. Condolences to his family.
Prayers, love and healing for Whitaker family. What a grand voice! I think the older he became, the BETTER is voice sounded! Everyone has their favorite recording from Roger. Mine, 'til this day is "The Holly and the Ivy." That has been by no.1 Christmas song for years and no-one comes close to his performance and production. With the utmost respect, RIP sir.
I just heard of Roger’s passing and wanted to send my condolences to Natalie and the children, grandchildren, and all who love him.
Roger and his music brought solace and beauty into my life from the first in the late 1970’s. He’s music made my life so much better. I feel blessed to have so many song to hear from him.
Now, as we mourn, I picture him— without pain and with his beloved bulldog. That image makes me smile. Love, love, and more love being sent—
An absolute icon. “The last farewell.“ Is got to be one of the greatest songs ever written, and no one could’ve ever performed it the way, Mr. Whitaker did.
Thanks for the music over the decades, Roger. Your songs always struck me like a hot toddy in mid-winter. And I mean that in a good way. Godspeed!
I saw Roger’s show at the Royal Theatre in Victoria, BC about 45 years ago. It was one of the best evenings I have ever spent and I remember the warm glow I had when we left the theatre. Thank you Mr. Whittaker for all the wonderful hours I have had, and will continue to have, listening to your beautiful, mellow, voice.
I remember the first time I listened to the Last Farewell with my mom. I was 11 years old. Rogers voice was crystal clear and so warm. Mom loved listening to him. Said it was like velvet. His voice and music stood the test of time and as he aged, he got even better. He had a God given gift and I’m very thankful he shared it with the world.
To the Whittaker Family, I’m so sorry for your loss. RIP Roger. Well done good and faithful servant.
