I heard his Last Farewell and I was hooked. I saw him in concert in San Francisco, Rhode Island and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a beautiful singer and his whistling was amazing. We have lost a great singer, but Heaven's choir is enriched.

We attended one of his concerts in Sun City, AZ. We introduced him to the Seeing Eye Dog that I was training. I have a picture of them together. I mention the concert in the book I wrote about Sadie. “Wednesdays with Sadie, the Miracle Dog.” Mr. Whittaker was so very kind to us. I’m saddened by his departure but Heaven has gained a troubadour. 💗

Many of us who were privileged to live in Kenya in the '50s and '60s, admired Roger greatly. He taught for a year (1959) at Delamere School where he left as his legacy a bent flag-pole from reversing his car into it! I got to see him at a sell-out concert in the Royal Albert Hall, and to meet some of his family. RIP mzee.

My condolences to the family and friends. My parents took me to a concert he did in Edmonton, Alberta when I was probably 9. I believe it was my first concert, and it left a love for live concerts with me. I remember the 8 tracks in the car and the Christmas album playing every year at our home. I will always hear those songs and cherish those memories. He impacted many lives. May your memories bring you comfort at some point.

My deepest condolences to the family. This planet would have been a much sadder place without his music. The Heavenly Choir just got a whole lot better!

Roger Whittaker's music is one of the most cherished sounds of my childhood - even now his voice wraps around me like a warm hug from a dear old friend. What a gift he and his music are to the world. xo

Am now retired after 52 years in jobs that required extesive travel. Always had my favourite music to accompany me and Roger with his varied, unique and wellm balanced repertoire was a perfect passenger and company on those long ,lonely journeys. Never met him, made it to one of his concerts yet he touched me very deeply. Good bye old friend, I bet you are teaching the angels how to whistle.

As a sailor, now retired, Rogers ‘The Last farewell’ has touched and will remain in my heart. I served on the Ark Royal. How fitting this beautiful song led our farewell to our great ship. Dear Roger, your presence and music will be missed. God bless you sir, Rest in Peace.

I always loved his voice, ever since I was a child.. He once called my boss and I needed to take a message.. He said.. "This is Roger Whittaker speaking"... My boss then, said to me that it was The Roger Whittaker! Out of context I thought what a beautiful spoken voice... But as the call was unrelated to His proffession..I didn't realise at the time!! I kicked myself! Go Well Roger..We will always love you!

One of my favorite singers. His beautiful voice brought comfort to so many. My particular favorite line is "For you are beautiful and I have loved you dearly, more dearly than the spoken word can tell." Rest in Peace dear man!

My sincere condolences to the Whittaker family on the passing of Roger. I was lucky enough to be at one of his concerts on Baltimore. I suffer from depression and Roger's music was always a comfort to me. He will be missed. Thank you Roger for sharing your musical talent with the world. May he rest in peace. Colleen, Baltimore

Sorry to hear of the passing of a great musician and entertainer. Condolences to the family at this sad time. I had the pleasure to purchase one of Roger's 12 string guitars before the families departure from Ireland. I still have the guitar and as I perform myself it will be played once again at my next gig to keep his memory alive. Maurice

Thank you so much for hundreds of beautiful songs that I can listen to in almost all emotional situations, songs that entertain and often also comfort. In the past decades, they have been welcome companions for me in everyday life as well as in gloomy hours. Have a peaceful journey ...

I had the pleasure of getting to know him a little on an eastern Canadian tour in the early 90s. I was working for local production company. A true gentleman and gentle man. I found It very easy to call him Sir because he had earned that respect. He would wave me off and say “It’s Roger”. I replied “Very good Sir” His road band at the time was top drawer and a lot of fun. As his PA tech and monitor guy we had some fun routines during sound check and show that I am smiling about even now. Thank you Sir! It was an honour to have your trust.

So sad to hear of Rogers' passing. My wife and I really enjoyed his music. The first time we saw Roger was sometime in the 1970's at Orchestra Hall in Chicago. Over the years we saw him perform twice in Aurora, Illinois and once in St. Louis, Missouri. Always looked forward to his show and enjoyed him so much.

I’ve always enjoyed Rogers singing ever since I was a young lad, growing up in a fishing community where I was exposed to different genres of music. I hoped Roger would be around for a while longer to share more music and stories with us, but sadly, that won’t be possible. I’m so sorry for your family’s loss, a lot of us are really going to miss him. Thank you Roger for your gift to all of us.
