I am so shocked in hearing this today as it just popped up as an alert. I have loved his music for many years and saw him 6 times when he came to Vancouver Canada. One of his cassette tapes I played so much when I would fly from Vancouver to New Zealand. I still have that cassette today. We will miss you! We now have memories online to listen to his music.
Condolences to the family. May you rest in peace and THANK YOU!
Deeply sorry to hear of his passing. I had the pleasure of attending his concert in Vancouver, BC, CANADA in the 1980s. He was a favorite of all in my family, including my parents. He will be missed. Our condolences to his family.
I have enjoyed Mr. Whittaker's music since I was a child. It was Atlanta's WSB AM 750 that introudced "The Last Farewell" to American audiences and thank God they did. My condolences and prayers are with his family and may Roger rest in His eternal peace.
It is with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of Roger. I am a South African and grew up with his music. Mainly because of my father who has introduced me to his music. My father died the 1st of June and I wil always remember the music we shared of Roger. It was one of my dreams to meet him in person, but unfortunately it did not happen. I also had the same dream with 2 other singers, Don Williams and Neil Diamond. I was fortunate enough to have been at a concert of Neil Diamond. I am a pastor and understand something like to "belong" to the world. It is with great gratitude that I, and many others, thank you for sharing Roger Whitaker and his talent with us. God has blessed him with a very unique and distinguish voice . Once again, thank you very much. Blessings
Rest Well Roger: we enjoyed your music, and your great compositions will enthral many for years to come. You gifted us with a wonderful piece "...my land in Kenya....."
Deepest Sympathies and Prayers to the family, friends, and fans of Roger Whittaker. His music was passed down to me from my father William who was a huge fan. He will surely be missed. May he Rest in Peace.
I have and will continue to enjoy the beautiful music and singing by this amazing artist. I was fortunate to see him in person in Thousand Oaks, CA. What a gift he gave to our world.
My extent my deepest sympathy to Mr. Whittaker's family.
For decades, no matter what country I find myself in, hearing Roger Whittaker sing in the radio always catches my attention. One specific song brings back especially fond memories of an evening in Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada.
Condolences to the family and friends of this most wonderful man who brought many years of musical pleasure. Memories came flooding back when I hauled out my records to listen to Roger's heartwarming and comforting voice and of course his whistling. Thank you Roger, Rest in peace.
When "The Last Farewell" would come on the radio, I would stop and just sit and somehow his voice and the song would take me to another time and place in my imagination.
I was blessed to meet this kind, and amazingly talented gent at the Jubilee many moons ago. My condolences to his family and friends. Roger may you R.I.P.❤😢❤
I had the privilege of sitting down to chat with this iconic musician and true gentleman. Here is our conversation

Thank you Roger for the great music that gives some great childhood memories from Kenya! We loved you and continue to love your music!
I miss him alot! He was one of the greatest singers of all tim! A fantastic voice and songs! Saw him in Oslo Norway twice back in the 1970 What an gret singer and artist! will never ever forget him! I play his songs almost every day!
Hearing his name or any of his songs (and his whistling of course) is an instant connection to my Dad who passed away in 2006. Dad listened to Roger Whittaker all of the time when I was growing up, fostering a love of Roger's voice in me and in my two sisters. As we filed out of Dad's funeral, we had "The Last Farewell" playing on the speakers... I can't listen to that song now without tears as I said my "last farewell" to my Dad with that song. Thank you so much for all of the beautiful music Mr Whittaker. May your family find joy in knowing that your voice (and your whistling) have touched so many lives, young and old!
Farewell Roger. Another boyhood hero checks out. Class, grace and elegance. Rest in peace, sir. Thank you for the music.
I heard his Last Farewell and I was hooked. I saw him in concert in San Francisco, Rhode Island and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a beautiful singer and his whistling was amazing. We have lost a great singer, but Heaven's choir is enriched.
We attended one of his concerts in Sun City, AZ. We introduced him to the Seeing Eye Dog that I was training. I have a picture of them together. I mention the concert in the book I wrote about Sadie. “Wednesdays with Sadie, the Miracle Dog.” Mr. Whittaker was so very kind to us. I’m saddened by his departure but Heaven has gained a troubadour. 💗
Many of us who were privileged to live in Kenya in the '50s and '60s, admired Roger greatly. He taught for a year (1959) at Delamere School where he left as his legacy a bent flag-pole from reversing his car into it! I got to see him at a sell-out concert in the Royal Albert Hall, and to meet some of his family. RIP mzee.
My Condolences to all Family and Friends, never forgotton your Songs will ever be in my Heart
A great Performer and Gentleman
Thank you for your Music
Rest in Peace Roger
