His song’ I don’t believe in if anymore’ is still my all time favourite. Grew up living next door to his parents in Nairobi. Wonderful man with an even more wonderful voice.
Saddened to hear the passing of Roger. A lovely man and wonderful singer. A real privilege to be present at his concerts. He was special and made you feel happy and contented. Rest in peace singing with the angels and with my Dad Patrick and Mum Emily. We love ❤ you. Sincere condolences to Natalie and family. God Bless
Had the pleasure in seeing Roger perform in the Waterfront Belfast around 12 or 13 years ago and met him at the end of the night. He could not do enough for his fans happily talking to everyone, signing autographs and getting photographs taken. He signed a 45rpm single of Durham town for me and i got a photograph with him. The single is actually the first ever single i bought when i was around 11 years old,so i have been a fan for over 50 years. I hope he is now up with his parents and with that great voice singing along with all the other great singers who have gone before him. An absolute lovely man in every way.
Brings back singing a few notes from 'The Fox', and my little daughter went 'aaha, aaha', and the record had to turn once more. Thanky you Roger Whittacker, and condolences to your closest who feel a deeper sadness yet than I do.
RIP ROGER🙏
You give us many lucky
moments with your voice 🎶💜
I loved him💜
I'm so sad to hear the news of Rogers passing. I grew up in Western Queensland working with my father and we would always be listening to Rogers music and loved his story telling. Even today when my father and I get together we always have Roger playing in the background. I am delighted say that my 6 year old daughter is now a Roger fan and loves to sing and dance along and is also now a fan. He has touched the heart now of 3 generations of my family and I would hope of many more to come. Thank you Roger for all the years that you have been there for us. You will be greatly missed. RIP
Growing up in Kenya in the 40's,50's & early 60's, Roger was very much a part of my young life. He was one of us! I still have vinyl records and he will often be a comfort in my quiet place. Please give my condolences to Natalie and the family (and friends) and let them know how much his life has meant to me, and my family. Rest in Peace Roger and Thank you. (From Australia)
Roger was truly a folk hero and an inspiration to many acoustic performers like myself. He composed wonderfully melodious songs and performed everything so beautifully and with such warmth and skill.
Well written, well sung, well whistled Sir.
I have loved Roger's music since I was a little kid, over 45 years now. He has been the artist I've listened to for longer than anyone else.
My deepest condolences to his family. I'm sure they know how much joy he's brought to millions of people all around the world.
Thank you, Roger.
Farewell, my friend
In memory of Roger Whittaker
There is news in life that leaves one stunned.
One such is that of the death of Roger Whittaker, which I received yesterday.
For more than 30 years I felt it as a great honor to accompany this artist and person on his professional, his artistic way. The fact that I had the privilege to get to know him and to meet him several times over the years is more than a great gift to me today.
What remains is the memory of three decades of my life that were and remain somehow connected in joy and sorrow, in happiness and hardship with the name Roger Whittaker, because somehow I found the right song for every situation in life in his repertoire.
Roger Whittaker was so much more than just a pop singer. Composer, lyricist, arranger, humanist and great animal lover. He showed that 50 years of career in the music business are possible without scandals and headlines.
His wide repertoire, singing in English, German, French and occasionally in Spanish and Dutch made him what he undoubtedly was - a world star.
Even if he himself is no longer with us, he remains unforgotten through his artistic work, and here the Internet also has a positive aspect, because all of us who adored and accompanied him as fans can keep his memory alive.
A memory of gladness can raise the heavy heart
When laden down with sadness
When you feel the teardrops start
One peaceful moment can erase the pain
One memory of gladness and you smile again
Erinnerungen sind dein Eigentum
Sind etwas das dir bleibt
Sind Souvenirs aus einem Paradies
Aus dem dich keiner je vertreibt
I wish the Whittaker family strength, love and cohesion in these difficult times.
A very special greeting should also go to his wife Natalie, because without her Roger's career would have been unthinkable.
We, the fans, carry Natalie in our hearts just as Roger does.
Dear Roger, thank you for everything, for more than 30 years of music and humanity.
Adieu, mein Freund….

The first time I heard Roger Whittaker I was in my early twenties and The Last Farewell was playing on the radio and I knew it would be a big hit, which it was.
Later when I could afford to go to concerts I saw his Christmas show in Los Angeles and once again several years later at the Greek Theater in LA. where he performed the very best rendition of Blueberry Hill I had ever heard before or since.
I always enjoyed the stories he would tell of his family home in Africa and I came to love his “ whistler “ songs very much.
He gave me much joy and delight in a life too full of pain which made what he brought to my life all the more important for the respite he gave me.
Thank you Roger I will always remember what you gave to the world !
My condolences to his wife and children.
Sincerely,
Bill Sekerak

Sincere condolences to Roger,s family.
His music, beautiful voice and whistling have been part of my life.
It uplifts me every time I play his songs and he will be sorely missed .
A true talented gentleman
RIP Roger.
I am so upset to hear of Rogers passing. I was only listening to his greatest hits album the other day whilst gardening. It was a beautiful sunny day & I was alone cutting branches in the woods with Rogers music keeping me company. I truly felt alive & content. This is what he brought to the world, good honest music with charming spirit. My condolences to his family with the kindest of memories every time I hear his wonderful voice & songs.
Kwa Heri Roger - loved your songs, especially the Good Old EAR&H - reminded me of long tortuous journeys from Njoro to Mombasa to the coast for our annual holidays and the memorable overnight 'school train' from Kisumu to Langata where I attended the rival 'Duko' (Duke of York School) - happy days - Cheerio, old chap
My Aunt bought me his greatest hits album way back when it came out, loved the smooth soothing sounds of Roger, godspeed.
I spilt tears on learning of Roger's passing. The most wonderful voice, whether spoken or in song, and by all accounts a truly lovely person. Thank goodness we can go on listening to him until we all too sing our last farewell.
We were saddened to hear of Roger's passing yesterday.
His contributions to the music industry will always be cherished.
We send our heartfelt condolences to Roger’s wife Natalie and family.
RIP Roger
I have always loved bragging that he was my teacher at Nairobi Primary School. Love his singing and whistling.
