Roger Whittaker was the first concert I ever attended back in 1978. I remember thinking how can someone have such a voice so smooth and hefty at the same time. Thank you for the music throughout the years.

He was my family's sunday morning music. My parents would read the paper, I would be on the floor reading a book and we would all listen to his music. His music is the comfort music from my childhood, which I still listen to. He will be greatly missed.

So sad to hear this. Roger's music was to a large extent the soundtrack of my youth, with my mum introducing me as a young child to his music and me subsequently collecting pretty much everything Roger ever recorded. My condolences to Natalie and his children. Rest in peace Roger - thank you for your music, your legacy will live on for many years to come.

I might have found myself adoring UK punk in the late 70s but, on the way to that time in my life, I knew a wonderful voice and a great song when I heard them. Thoughts are with your family, and thank you Roger.

Roger - you have been in our lives always, via Kenya schools, National Theatre, Cafes in Nairobi (Hank days) and of course the Kenya Regiment. You have left us such a lovely legacy and you will never be forgotten. Condolences to your family.

My mother LOVED your music, and was lucky enough to meet you back in the 80's or 90's (I can't remember which as I was young). My brothers and I grew up listening to your music, and after she met you, well, it was indeed magical for her. Thank you for being such a big part of our lives.

It was 1981 when I first heard Roger Whitaker sing and whistle. I immediately fell in love with his voice and music. I have treasured each song and album over the decades. Thank you Mr. Whitaker for living my heart and carrying me to wonderful places with your voice. God speed

I have treasured Roger's albums for decades, saw him in concert twice, and the second time, was fortunate enough to actually meet him. He was a great talent and an extraordinary human being. He leaves the world a better place for having made his mark on it, and he will be deeply missed by all those who loved his music. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family in their bereavement.

I remember the first time that I heard The Last Farewell. I was suffering from red measles and the beautiful song came on the radio.Such a beautiful song sung with a melodious voice. I was captivated. I had the honour of meeting Roger at Massey Hall in Toronto and also at Hamilton Place. I remember distinctly him playing a round of my then husband who was the Golf Course Superintendent at Hamilton Golf and Country Club in 1980. My deepest condolences are sent to his wife and family. He will be missed but we have his voice forever recorded. Rest in Peace Roger and Thank you.

I have been fortunate enough to see him live once in my life and I think I put him on a platform. I wanted him to live forever. I knew this day would come eventually, but I hoped I would never know it. My heart is so sad. I hope to see him again when I get to Heaven.

I was fortunate enough to meet Roger a couple of times. His mantra - "We should live without hate" - inspired me to be a better person. The world is a lesser place without him in it; his music made an indelible impact on me.
