That’s sad news. I have a special affinity for Roger’s music. My dad was at the same school as him in Kenya. He sang at my parent’s wedding. I am told he dated my dad’s younger sister for a while. I have the table lamp he gave my parents as a wedding present. And I perform his songs. RIP Roger - you have inspired me for as long as I can remember.

Saddened by the news today that Roger has passed. From being a baby I have had Roger in my life through his music, the warmth and tones of his voice will always be with me. I have never known a world without him. Rogers songs helped me get through many tough times. Rest in peace my dear friend. Until we meet again. Love, Alec

A treasured voice from my childhood - You leave a legacy of memorable music and a life well lived. Rest in Peace Roger - your “Last Farewell” Condolences to your family at this sad time. In memory of your time spent living among us in Ireland …. Beannacht (An Irish Blessing), by John O'Donohue On the day when the weight deadens on your shoulders and you stumble, may the clay dance to balance you. And when your eyes freeze behind the grey window and the ghost of loss gets in to you, may a flock of colours, indigo, red, green, and azure blue come to awaken in you a meadow of delight. When the canvas frays in the currach of thought and a stain of ocean blackens beneath you, may there come across the waters a path of yellow moonlight to bring you safely home. May the nourishment of the earth be yours, may the clarity of light be yours, may the fluency of the ocean be yours, may the protection of the ancestors be yours. And so may a slow wind work these words of love around you, an invisible cloak to mind your life.

My deepest sympathies tother Whittaker Family. I only just learnt of Mr. Whittaker's passing. I loved his music thanks to my late Mother who knew him well back in Kenya. She knew him as "Hank" and told me of his red MG that he totalled. My Mum got to meet him again after many years here in the UK. May he rest in peace.

Roger Whittaker- a true legend. Your true love for Kenya was and still is so evident despite the demise of your dad. My land is Kenya album remains my favorite even though The River Lady is my go-to when I need to perk up- it’s truly catchy!!! And the whistling!!! RIP - your work here is done, and done beautifully!!!

† R.I.P. Ruhe in Frieden .... Den Angehörigen wünsche ich zutiefst herzliches Beileid.... Uschi Müller† Deine Musik wird niemals enden

First our condolences to family and friends. Thanks for your Music ❤️ I'm just sitting in bed, I wanted to go to sleep and I read the news that you left us.... 😪😭 🙏🕊️ I'm just blown away and I'm just crying. I was born in 1965 and as a small child I was allowed to watch every show because I liked you so much. Not just because of your singing, no, your lovely way of dealing with people. I grew up without a father or mother and you were always a substitute father for me. I always said as a little boy that I would have liked to have had a father like that. My childhood, honest good feeling wasn't wrong, your a very Loving and honest person. As a teenager, I learned that you were a warm person among your family, friends and fans. I could list so many places where I met you, but at the moment all I feel is sadness, deep sadness, as if a part of my life has gone... All the best to your lovely wife and a loving hug 😘. Roger Whittaker was the artist of my youth in the 1970s. I heard about his music through my parents and it has never left me. At my father's funeral I played his song 'Why'. Many, many thanks for the beautiful music that will live on for decades. Go in peace.

Very sad to hear the demise of Roger, I will always remember him for the song, "My Land Is Kenya" which in numerous times when we have been facing challenges in our elections, drought and other problems have been a rallying call. Wherever you are, you will greatly be missed by generations in Kenya and elsewhere. Fare thee well brother Rogers!
