How very sad. I grew up listening to his records booming out of the radiogram. My Dad and I often fell into fits of laughter, trying to copy his famous whistle. My Mum singing along and playing his songs on her guitar, Dad on the zither.... I know people don't live forever and his music lives on but the memories, oh the memories that came flooding back when I heard this news.... Sincere condolences to Roger's family. Rest in peace Sir x

On 14/08/2023 my daughter is born. I named her "Eloisa", cause this is one of my all time favorite songs. One month later, i'm so sad to hear Roger passed away. I will remember him my whole life and listen to his songs. Thank you so much for your life's work!

What a voice that would flow out of the loudspeakers, particularly during Advent every December. Daddy bought the Christmas album 1979, and every subsequent year the album would be on non-stop rotation throughout weekends leading up to the festivities. In fact, we didn't feel the proper pre-Christmas excitement before that particular LP was produced and played in our living room. But Roger became a musical staple in my family long before 1979, and I know all his towering evergreens. And: I will never forget my amazement at how a human being could whistle a tune with such virtuosity. You were a presence in our lives we will always treasure.

R.I.P., dear Mr. Whittaker. All the best for his family.

The Last Farewell - a wonderful song which was an absolute favourite of mine as a child. As I sang along to ABBA and The Stranglers, I also adored this tune. Timeless. Thoughts are with his family and friends.

So enjoyed listening to his music. An awesome entertainer; was privileged to attend 3 of his concerts. Talked with him after one of them, so cordial and heartfelt interaction. His music will live on. He’s now singing in heaven.

I grew up listening to Mr. Whittaker’s music and had the great pleasure of seeing him perform live once in Concord, NH. I had the opportunity to meet him but unfortunately missed it and forever regret that. I’ve always enjoyed the music and found my favorite singing songs in the shower and in kareoke mostly from his collection of songs. His passing is truly the end of an era and her will be missed greatly. Rest in peace, sir. Thank you for the wonderful music and memories it invokes in me. Forever grateful, Bob Gilmore

One of a kind. Master whistler. I loved it when he said everyone is carrying an instrument they can learn to play anywhere. For years I tried to play Elizabethian Serenade, but could not master the high notes he reached. His music will live on!!
